Refr Sports, a Minnesota startup developing referee management software, has closed a $2 million seed round led by Traction Capital, with participation from angel investors and follow-on investments from Groove Capital and Kickstart.
Refr plans to use the venture capital funding across sales, customer success, marketing and engineering. The company offers scheduling, payment, background check and communication tools for sports officials, assignors and organizations. Refr said it is currently growing between 350% and 400% year over year.
More than 20,000 officials currently use the platform, which supports hundreds of thousands of games annually. Refr plans to expand that capacity to millions of games each year and reach 100,000 officials by the end of 2027.
